the making of a malabite
The school is filled with many malabites but very few are REAL malabites. There are some traits that are common to REAL malabites that distinguishes them from other malabites. These traits are reflected in what they do, say and how they carry themselves generally. In other from one to pass from just being an ordinary malabite to being a real malabite, he must do these things:
Firstly, he must realize his uniqueness. Students of the university of Calabar are generally unique from students of other schools. Don't try to bring in the ideologies from other schools into the campus as it may land you in some serious troubles. Carry yourself in a unique way and seek ways to express your uniqueness.
Secondly, he must mind the way he talks. A REAL malabite is not the lousy, abusive type. He usually acts in a reserved manner and is not so fast to utter harsh words of any kind. Such people usually reach great heights in malabor ( you know any of them?). On the other hand, malabites who talk anyhow are usually ignored and never reach any great heights on campus.
Thirdly, he must always defend his rights Speak out when someone tries to deprive you of your rights no matter who the person may be. This is one of the greatest traits of real malabites...they are not easily intimidated. If you are the kind that is easily intimidated, you better question your standing as a malabite.
Fourthly, he has a bold approach towards everything. He is never pessimistic over things but believes in himself and that he can do whatever he wants to do and achieve whatever he wants to achieve, whether people support him or not. He aspires to reach beyond where ordinary men could not reach and achieves great results.
Fifthly, he actively involves himself with activities on campus. He is seen in sports, in politics, in seminars, every activity on campus. He is exposed because he gets involved in what is happening on campus. Don't shy away from things happening in school, but see you get some recognition by being part of all activities on campus. This is one of the greatest secrets of REAL malabites.
Sixthly, he works hard. He is very disciplined and works really hard to achieve what he wants. He is seen in the library and never misses his classes. He is committed to what he is doing and puts in his best. He usually leads his class in results and there is no limit to what he can achieve. He usually comes out with a First class honors ( Some are your classmates)
Lastly, he knows the value of God. He acknowledges God in all he does and that brings him phenomenal success. He is usually seen in a campus fellowship and in religious programmes on campus. This is the greatest secret of them all.
